The heart of a mixing and delivery pump is the pump unit, also known as the rotor/stator. This is where the required pressure is built up in order to deliver the material to the processing location. Depending on the size, different conveying outputs can be provided. The last digit of the pump designation denotes the number of pressure stages; a working pressure of 10 bar can be built up for each stage. If these values are no longer achieved, the unit is worn out and should be replaced.

There are different types of stators. On the one hand the maintenance-free stators that are immediately ready for use after installation in the machine. Then there are tensible stators, which are tensioned depending on the material and grain size; these are in turn divided intotwo groups. Stators with an integrated clamp and slotted stators that use an external clamp. If the conveying pressure decreases, the stators must be tightened. This substantially extends the service life. Robust design and high functionality are a matter of course for us.

PFT offers various stator sizes for virtually any application. Very few people are aware of how stator names are composed. Let's look at anexample, D 6–3.

The letterDstands for the stator diameter.
The number6designates the eccentricity and the number3after the semicolon, the number of pressure stages.

Stator diameter: A ~ 40 mm, B ~ 51 mm, C ~ 59 mm, D ~ 90 mm, R ~ 114 mm, T ~ 125 mm
Stator abbreviations: wf ~ maintenance-free, PIN ~ anti-rotation device, L ~ anticlockwise rotation

Pressure stability

TWISTER design (1)
Steel edges support the rubber and prevent deformation in case of pressure.

Cylindrical design (2)
Deformation in the rubber leads to higher wear and quickly impacts pressure stability = holding pressure in the chambers; reflux occurs in the stator.

Working temperature

Friction causes heat and this has a negative impact on the rubber of the stator. It is therefore important to reduce the heat in the stator by using a suitable rubber compound and through fast heat dissipation.

A lower wall thickness and larger surface area dissipate the heat in the stator in an improved way.

Irregular rubber thicknesses prevent fast heat transmission.

Maintenance-free stator "Ready-to-go" – pre-stressed for immediate use.

Tensible stator (2)
"Do-it-yourself" – the tension is adjusted using screws; retightening is possible to suit your needs. This means that this stator can be tuned by a professional to match the application or the material.

Pump capacity

Using this approach you can easily convert the pump performance for your controllable machine.

For example:
What is the delivery performance in litres per minute at 250 rpm for rotor/stator D 6–3

Example calculation:
20 l/min = 400 rpm
20 : 400 = 0.05
0.05 x250=12.5 l/min
